Fantasy Impact: Dion Lewis

Remember when DeMarco Murray was released by the Titans, and all the Derick Henry fans/dynasty owners were throwing a party? Yea well, that party was raided and broken up during the first few days of free agency. The team signed former Patriots, Dion Lewis to a contract that puts him inside the top 10 of annual average salary for running backs. No, this does not mean that Lewis will be a featured back and Henry will be on the outside looking in. This means that Henry just won’t have the fantasy appeal many thought he would when Murray was released. Let’s face it, Henry is not good in the passing game. That includes both receiving and blocking. Lewis is. Lewis fits right in to what the Titans needed to do, although it is a pretty hefty contract for someone with the injury history that he has

Fantasy Impact:

The emergence of James White and Rex Burkhead in New England, took some of what Dion Lewis can do away from his production. You won’t see him getting the 30% of carries inside the 20, or the 17% inside the 5, like he did in New England. Make no mistake about it, Henry will be getting close to 70% of those carries in Tennessee. I could see a split similar to that of what you see in Atlanta between these two players. Both will have fantasy value, but you won’t see Henry in on the same amount of passing plays as Devonta Freeman is. Freeman is valuable in any format, but Henry’s value is going to be primarily in standard scoring formats. Expect Lewis to be a mid-late RB2 in ppr formats and a back-end RB3 in standard.
